The Native American Resource Center will host an Intermediate Beading Workshop on Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  The workshop will be taught by Lumbee artist, Alicia Chavis.  Participants will review the basics of the straight stitch from the beginner course and focus on how to complete basic projects.  This will include different edging techniques like the whip stitch or the lace stitch, applying backing materials, and adding jewelry components and findings.  This is a great class for those who have taken her beginner workshops before as well as those that have basic beading skills.

The cost of the workshop will be $30 for new participants and $25 for returning participants.  If you are a returning participant and you have your own supplies, your charge will be $15.  All participants need to bring a pair of scissors and bring your payment on the day of the workshop.  If you are interested and are 17 years of age or older please contact Alisha Locklear Monroe at 910-521-6282 or email her at  There is limited space available so please respond quickly!

*She will have beads for sale as well as her beaded items.
